Your Own Standards, Your Rules

Your Own Standards, Your Rules

Did you know that you can define your own lighting standards in Relux?

In Episode 54 of our webinar Fun with Relux, we took a deep dive into one of the most powerful yet often overlooked features: Custom Policies – user-defined usage profiles and adjustable lighting classes.

Why custom profiles? Standard values are a good starting point, but reality often looks different. Local authorities, municipal requirements, or organisations (e.g. FIFA) have their own demands that deviate from EN 12193, EN 12464, or EN 13201. With custom profiles, you can tailor Relux precisely to your projects.

How to create your own usage profile (interior)

Creating your own usage profile in Relux Desktop

  1. Assign a name – Enter a unique profile name and add it via the plus symbol.
  2. Create a usage profile – Within the profile, add your own application via a second plus symbol.
  3. Define target values – Set your individual target values, bound to the structure of EN 12464:
  4. Done – The profile appears in the selection list and is immediately available for your planning.

Sharing profiles with your team – made easy

Relux automatically saves every custom profile as an XML file in your local configuration folder. Alternatively, export it directly via the symbol next to the profile name. No colleague ever has to recreate the profile manually – simply copy the file, share it, and get started.

What's new in version 2026.1

  • Road lighting (EN 13201): Override standard values directly via the pencil icon – e.g. 12 instead of 15 lux for Berlin-specific municipal requirements. Custom class sets are coming soon.
  • Sports module: Add new quality criteria (uniformity Ud), and accurately map specific evaluation grids for national requirements (SLG, UEFA).
  • Obtrusive light: Manual adjustment of limit values is in planning.

Important to know Custom interior profiles strictly follow the structure of EN 12464 – including mandatory fields for walls and ceilings. This makes them ideal for interior spaces, but not for outdoor or sports facilities, where Relux offers more flexible customisation options.
