We have further developed the ReluxDesktop professional lighting planning software and equipped it with new functions.
The new EN 12464-1:2021 "Lighting of indoor workplaces" defines criteria and values to perform visual tasks. This standard is essential for all indoor lighting designers and has been fundamentally changed.
The software now also includes US best practice values. Usage profiles based on standards can now be managed individually, enabling the planning program to be flexibly tailored to country-specific requirements.
We have simplified the licence activation procedure. As of this version, a licence no longer has to be reactivated when it is renewed.
ReluxDesktop can be used in 26 different languages! Thai has now been added as a further language. You will find the other functional enhancements directly in the program under “What’s new in ReluxDesktop?”
Thanks to our members, you can use the software free of charge. With a ThirdParty Licence, you can also conduct your planning using third-party products.

Usage profiles
EN 12464-1:2021. The new 2021 version of the standard addresses not only minimum requirements but also user needs and explains the non-visual lighting effects. The software checks the lighting engineering values determined by the program and automatically compares these with the calculation results. Results that fall short of the values are shown in red.
Example: in an office situation, planners can plan with Em 500lx, Em 750lx or even with Em 1000lx. If the planning value is increased, an explanation must be given.
In response to numerous requests, we have added further functions to the “Usage profiles” dialog. Our users can now permanently configure country specifications of their own.
We now distinguish between standards-based specifications entered by RELUX and specifications that are entered individually by our users. The values entered by RELUX cannot be changed. The specifications entered by our users can always be edited such as the table with the US best practice values. With the incorporation of US best practice, we have now also added imperial measurement units.
Planning reliability and transparency have been enhanced through the comparison of country-specific requirements and determined values.
Luminaire list
Editing luminaires in a table is sometimes the fastest approach! This permits coordinates and luminaire angles to be checked more efficiently.
You prefer to edit the value range in Excel? This is naturally possible with copy and paste. In the “Settings” window, you can opt to have the luminaire list displayed or hidden on a permanent basis. This was something that our community requested, by the way!
Display options for CAD plans
You can now manage the display of CAD plans and background images separately for the different result outputs.
Addition of the "Thai" language
ReluxDesktop can now be used in 26 different languages! Thai has been added as a further language. Our sincere thanks go to Yodsak Unhavaithaya from Bangkok for this.
